The romantic eco-friendly Relax Bay Resort sits on 1km of private white sands on Ko Lanta’s stunning Phra-Ae Beach (Long Beach) – a perfect spot to enjoy the calm blue waters of the Andaman Sea in near seclusion. One step on to this property and you’ll understand why its called Relax Bay: from the gentle sound of waves lapping the shore to the tastefully designed bungalows perfectly immersed in their environment – this resort exudes calmness and relaxation. Its the perfect place to kick off your sandals and enjoy the gentle sea breeze from a hammock or lounge chair.
All 37 of Relax Bay’s bungalows are near to or on the beach and all have amazing sea views. You can choose from VIP suites with aircon to budget friendly fan rooms. The resort is careful to not disturb the natural surroundings and has purposely built each bungalow to fit into its environment, giving each room its own personality.
The resort also offers ‘tent’ style accommodation which they call the “Tent Experience.” During the high season months of Oct-May you can enjoy a back-to-nature, secluded camping style experience on a pretty much private beach but with the comforts of a modern, fully functional resort.
Carrying on with its theme of relaxation and calmness, Relax Bay has a full service Spa where you can enjoy a number of treatments. Enjoy a traditional Thai or Swedish massage on an open air massage bed – while the skilled staff work on your tired muscles let your mind drift to the sounds of the sea. Feeling a little more energetic? Then an early morning or late afternoon yoga class is perfect for rejuvenating mind and body and what better place to practice your yoga poses then looking out to the turquoise waters of the Andaman Sea from your own secluded beach!
The rustic Manao Restaurant sits directly on the beach and has a ‘Robinson Crusoe-esqu’, ‘castaway’ vibe. The food, while a bit pricey by Thai standards, is delightful and combined with the view, its an overall amazing dinning experience. If you choose to head along the beach for dinner then be sure to come back to the resort for a night cap at the Viva Zapata Beach Bar.
PLUS: The yoga classes at Relax Bay are normally offered during the high season months of Oct-May and are highly recommended. Even if you’re not a skilled yogi, you’ll appreciate the lovely relaxing setting and who knows, maybe you’ll be enticed to carry on with this relaxing frame of mind at home!
MINUS: The western food menu doesn’t really have rave reviews. For such a lovely resort one would expect higher quality in the restaurant then frozen pizzas. While we’ve not heard any complaints about the Thai food, if you have an hankering for something western then head up the beach a few hundred meters or head to the main road to the renown Red Snapper Restaurant for yummy European-style tapas.
