Asian-inspired minimalist design combined with a traditional and rustic Thai way of living make SriLanta one of the most unique resorts on Ko Lanta. The resort is located on the southern end of Klong Nin Beac; its property extends from the beach to up the hill on the opposite side of the road. With the exception of the Beach House, all the rooms at SriLanta are carefully positioned along the hillside within the lush jungle to optimize privacy and create an eco-chic, back-to-nature feel. The rooms are detached and feature thatched roofs and traditional thai furnishings.
The beach side of the resort boast well manicured gardens, swimming pool and beach access. Dramatically tall palm trees dot the property and create shade for an afternoon of lounging in a hammock. While most of the resort makes use of natural earth tone colours, a few pops of colour from beach umbrellas and lanterns add a special artistic flare.
The overall eco-chic feel of the resort makes it a perfect place for an early morning yoga class – which the resort does offer – or a relaxing day of reading by the pool or beach. There is also a Spa with well-trained staff offering a variety of treatments.
The Surya Chandra Restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating just a few steps away from the beach. The menu offers both traditional Thai dishes as well as western food – all with a focus on healthy and refined ingredients.
At the quiet southern end of Klong Nin Beach, it’s only a short walk or tuk-tuk ride away from a variety of beach front restaurants and bars. The beach itself is a lovely long strip of sand – perfect for jogging or working on your tan. Swimming is best at high tide as there are quite a few rocks when the water is low.
PLUS: The resort is gorgeous and offers a very unique atmosphere for mid-range prices making it great value. The traditional Thai furnishings and the combination of back-to-nature and luxury make SriLanta a one of a kind resort on Ko Lanta.
MINUS: All of the accommodation is on the hillside away from the beach. Although there are fantastic views, climbing up the hill isn’t for everyone. We have also heard complaints about less then attentive bar and restaurant staff who’ve been known to be a bit lazy about cleaning up glasses and bottles from tables.
